These are memories as told by you.
If you have any, write them down and email me.
I've got one or two to put in a bit later on.
By Maureen Rudge.
George and Agnes Greensall, living in Devonshire Street. When
I used to visit I can always remember going down to the bottom
of the garden and sitting on the bench. Watching the trains go
past and waving to the drivers, they were steam trains in
those days.
Does anybody else remember they had a Jazz Band? Stanley
used to play the drums. Albert played the banjo and I believe
Gran played the piano, cannot say what the others played. I
know this to be true as a couple of years ago I was contacted
by a very old neighbour of theirs who also lived in Tree
Place, Osler Street saying they had many a good time of a
Saturday night after the pubs closed, plenty of music and the
occasional fight, but on Sunday morning peace resumed and
everybody was the best of friends. |
